TOWSON, MD (June 18, 2010) - Oak Contracting announced today that Doug Eder received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ 2010 Award in the construction category in Maryland. According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Eder was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront on Friday June 18, 2010.
Not many people led and masterfully grew a multi-million dollar, industry-leading construction based business through a credit crisis and a recession. Yet, Doug Eder and his team have grown Oak Contracting into a leading regional construction management firm specializing in new construction and renovation projects. Eder and his team believe every project must be on budget and bring great results. A testimony to Eder's leadership is the growth experienced by Oak under his watch; most notably, in 2009, Oak experienced an astounding 75 percent growth in its revenue compared to previous years. While this represented an anomaly due to a surge in school construction, it is reflective of the enormous brand that Eder has established in the marketplace that effectively makes Oak a sole-source provider of construction services to Maryland school districts. Eder's high expectations create a climate of high performance. His visionary thinking is what creates new jobs and will continue to be a strong factor in the company's future success.
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards celebrates their 24th anniversary this year. The program honors entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptionality in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
As a Maryland award winner, Eder is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur Of The Year 2010 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 13, 2010. The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation's most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
