$100 million K-12 School Replacement Project Commences

(April 7, 2008) - Site work for the new Edgewood High and Deerfield Elementary Schools got started in early April. The $10.1 million site package will prepare the campus for two new schools to be constructed behind the existing facilities. A middle school is also part of the campus and is situated between the high school and elementary school. Work includes a new duct bank to be installed this summer, which will serve all three schools with new electrical and fiber optic service. Existing utilities will be relocated and a storm water management system will be installed. The high school will also receive approximately 1,500 geo-piers to support the new three story structure.

Building construction will start later this summer on both new schools. The new facilities will open in 2010, at which time there will be five schools on the campus. Once the new buildings are occupied, the existing high school and elementary school will be removed and athletic fields restored. The entire project will be completed by mid 2011 and is valued at $100 million.
