(September 18, 2008) - Governor Martin O'Malley led Nantucket Elementary School students in a rally this morning at the new school's ribbon cutting ceremony. The new facility, which opened in August at the beginning of the school year, houses just over 700 students in 75,178 square feet of state-of-the-art learning space. Designed by Grimm + Parker Architects, Nantucket Elementary School was constructed in less than two years at a cost of $14.7 million, of which the state contributed $6 million. After the ceremony, the Governor and other officials planted a “Tree of Progress” with the assistance of the Department of Natural Resources.
