For the seventh straight year, Oak adopted a family in need for Christmas. In lieu of an inter-office Secret Santa or gift exchange, employees donated gifts, clothing, and cash to help make a family’s Christmas morning a time of happiness and celebration.
This year, Oak adopted a family of four children being raised by a single mother. Each of the four children received a new coat, hat, pajamas, several outfits, and shoes. In addition to clothes, the oldest son received sketch pads and wrestling action figures; the middle son received a skateboard and a football; the youngest son received a remote-controlled race car and superhero action figures; and the daughter received jewelry, a jewelry box, nail polish, a pillow pet, and a build-a-bear. Mom received bath towels, lotions, bath soap, dishes, silverware, a handmade quilt, $200 in gift cards for groceries, and $200 in cash to help with other expenses.
Gifts for the entire family included Battleship, Operation, Uno, Twister, Pictionary, Family Feud for Wii, Sonic/Mario Olympic Games for Wii, a Christmas tree with all the trimmings, and a week’s worth of groceries.
Employees donate items on the family’s “wish list” while others donate cash, which the company then matches, and the money is used toward completing the wish list and buying groceries and other items for the family. Giving back to local families in need helps us all remember what Christmas is really about. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
