| Owner: Howard County Public Schools Architect: tca architects Square Footage: 117,000 Contract Type: CM Agency Value: $18,457,919 | Veterans Elementary School received its name based on a portion of the land being provided by the Yingling-Ridgely Post, the site being popularly known as the VFW site, the Post's unblemished record of support for and cooperation with the school system, and the fact that the VFW is a patriotic organization that benefits the County by providing youth programs and scholarships. Due to delays with the County obtaining a piece of land for site access, Oak was able to build the new school under a fast-track schedule to maintain the original opening and keep School Superintendent Dr. Sydney Cousin's promise to the community to have the much-needed school open on time.
